Visit to DMG and Participating in the KTM Ice Experience
February 1 – 2, 2018
The advancement of humankind is based on the constant acquisition of knowledge, the combination of different ideas, and the desire to reach for something new and uncharted. This is why we are particularly aware that constant training is essential, as is combining our powers. In the spirit of unity and cooperation, the representatives of TC Jakl and Riedl CNC from Maribor went on a two-day excursion to Germany together.
In the city of Seebach, we visited the DMG Mori factory, which deals mainly with manufacturing CNC processing centres, and works for the automotive, medical and aviation industry. We were shown their production facilities employing over 2000 people.
In the production hall where all components are assembled and the completed production centre takes its shape, we were stunned by the size and mobility of the machinery with a processing area of up to 18 by 5 metres. We then continued our tour to the engine testing facility, followed by the department offering high-school students work experience. There, we were also presented some valuable research dealing with the inclusion of new staff into the work process. Our tour was concluded at the department known as the learning centre.
The aim of the second day of our trip was the KTM Ice Experience race. The racing track for the event is located in the vicinity of St. Michael im Lungau. We raced on an icy track using KTM X-bow cars with over 200 horse powers.
In conclusion, day one was used to acquire additional expert knowledge, while the second day allowed us to get acquainted with the end product that uses parts produced by us, to make new friends and strengthen the cooperation between our two companies.
